Current Unfunded Projects 2009 PI / Restless Legs Syndrome in Older Puerto Ricans We have submitted a NIH R21 grant to investigate whether obesity, homocysteine, and melatonin status are associated with risk of restless legs syndrome in a representative sample of older Puerto Ricans living in MA. The grant received a score of 67 (51 percentile). This application will be reviewed in February, 2010. 2009 PI / Oxidative Stress Biomarkers and Cognitive Decline in Older Puerto Ricans We have submitted a NIH R01 grant to prospectively investigate several oxidative stress biomarkers and cognitive decline in a representative sample of older Puerto Ricans living in MA (n=1,400). This application will be resubmitted in Mar, 2010. 2009 CI / Risk factors and biomarkers of Parkinson’s disease in the Women’s Health Initiative We have submitted a NIH R01 grant to prospectively investigate risk factors and biomakers of Parkinson’s disease in women.
