B: I don’t like her personality. Shy people are not good at expressing themselves. What’s more, they usually can’t get along well with others.
A: No, I don’t think so. In my opinion, although shy people are not very good at expressing themselves, they are very good listeners. At first sight, shy people may seem very difficult to approach(接近), but once you get familiar with them, you will find that they are very easygoing and considerate. Take Mary for example, she is such a good listener and never gossip(说闲话) behind people’s backs, so I am always happy to share my secrets with her.
C: I couldn’t agree with you more. Whenever I am in a bad mood, I’d like to have a heart-to-heart talk with Mary and pour my troubles to her. And she can always cheer me up with a few words of encouragement.
D: Just like you, I also like Mary very much because she is such a wonderful friend. She is patient, helpful and reliable. However, nobody is perfect, and Mary is no exception(人无完人，Mary也不例外). I think she needs to be more sociable and try her best to make more friends.
B: You are quite right. It’s quite interesting that Mary’s twin sister Lily’s personality is just the opposite. She is very outgoing and likes to make friends with all kinds of people. However, she also has her weaknesses. For example, she often acts on impulse(做事冲动), and takes unnecessary risks. Sometimes she is too cocky(过于自信的) to listen to anyone else.
D: I think Mary and Lily have complementary personalities(互补的性格), and each has qualities that the other one lacks. There’s a saying that every coin has two sides, and every man has his strong points and weak points. Therefore what we should do is to learn from other’s strong points to make up for our own weak points(取长补短).
