Lesson 1 The Power Cut The family was going on holiday. It took hours. Chip and Wilma正在听光碟。 Suddenly all the lights went out. 突然,所有的灯灭了。 The television and the CD player went off. 电视和影碟机关了。 “What?s happened?” called Biff. “出什么事了?”Biff喊。 Dad came in with a torch. “There?s been a power cut!” he said. 爸爸拿着手电筒进来。“停电了!”他说。 Mum found a lamp. 妈妈找来一盏灯。 “What if the power doesn?t come back on?” asked Chip, looking at the TV. “要是电不来怎么办?”Chip看着电视机问。 “We?ll have to do without it,” said Dad. “我们不得不将就了,”爸爸说。 “Oh,no!” said the children. “哦,真倒霉!”孩子们说。 The power didn?t come back on. 电不会马上来。 “It may be off for a long time,” said Dad.It was time to eat. “这电也许要停很长时间,”爸爸说。该吃饭了。 They all sat round the table and had supper by candlelight. 他们都围着饭桌坐下来,并借着烛光吃晚饭。 It was fun eating in the dark. There was no power cut.”“我想让你们享受没有电视的假期,没有停电。” “Turn it off again,” said the children. “We can do without it.” “把电再关掉吧,”孩子们说,我们可以不用电。”
