Why do you think people attend college or university? In my opinion, there are three main reasons that people attend college or university. First, college is a place where people can feel free to make their dream come true. Because we have experienced cra mming style education from elementary school to high school, it’s amazing that we can choose what we want to lean in college. For example, we can select classes by ourselves; join clubs which we interest in and host activities with friends who have the same dream. Second ly, college is a place where we will become independent. We may have gone to a nearby elementary school, junior high school even high school for our earlier education, but may attend a college far away from our home. We have to learn things like “how to negotiate with a landlord when we want to rent a room” or “how to prepare a meal by ourselves”. Such knowledge can help us be well prepared for the future. Third ly, college degree s are becom ing more common in Taiwan. There is a saying, “If a s hop sign fall down s and hit s three people, there are one Ph.D. and two master students”. We may not want to attend college but must to attend anyway, because that is the trend. Maybe everyone attends college for different reason s but I believe everyone will benefit more than they expect. Why do people attend college or university? Every year many students in all world attend college or university. There are different reasons about this. All of this people try to develop themselves in the college. But I do not think that the time spent in the college is lost time. One of the reasons that people go to the college is because they want to prepare themselves for a good career. The students learn theoretically and practically how to solve problems in the real work situations. They take knowleges in specific areas and this helps them to be a professionals. Some people go to the college because they like to learn. Usually this students continuos their education and win awards in sciens. They have a good chance to express a good learning possibilities. Other people go to college because they can meet people who like to learn. They can meet a new friends from all world. This is the way to make an interesting social experiece. In the college atmosphere everyone can try to be a leader, to develop communication skills with students and lecturers. Nowadays a higher education is nessesity. The college in an investment in personal future. This is and my reason to be a student. People attend colleges or universities for a lot of different reasons. I believe that the three most common reasons are to prepare for a career, to have new experiences, and to increase their knowledge of themselves and the world around them. Career preparation is becoming more and more important to young people. For many, this is the primary reason to go to college, They know that the job market is competitive. At college, they can learn new skill for careers with a lot of opportunities. This means careers, such as information technology, that are expected to need a large workforce in the coming years. Also, students go to colleges and universities to have new experiences. This often means having the opportunity to meet people different from those in their hometowns. For most students, going to college is the first time they’ve been away from home by themselves. In additions, this is the first time they’ve had to make decisions on their own. Making these decisions increases their knowledge of themselves. Besides looking for self-knowledge, people also attend a university or college to expand their knowledge in subjects they find interesting. For many, this will be their last chance for a long time to learn about something that doesn’t relate to their career. I would recommend that people not be so focused on a career. They should go to college to have new experiences and learn about themselves and the world they live in. But for the rest of us, us, most people want money to realize some of our dreams. We want the riches because of the freedom wealth confers upon its master, the freedom to do what the master pleases. For some, it may be the freedom to breathe a debtless day's grace; for another, to buy a yacht; for Howard Huges, it was to build the finest of aeroplanes; for Mother Terresa, to redeem the under-previliged off their suffering. So, we're not really after money for the money itself; we're not in for its value. We're in the race for the value of the dreams we've relentlessly woven in our minds, day in and day out, everyday adding more and more wishes to the list. If I had all the money I needed, and more, and if money just flowed to me like the water from a tap; if money meant nothing at all to me, and I had it all in plenty, how I wish I could do these things: 0. I would fulfill my responsibilities towards my family first. I really can't talk about them. Those are personal. Everyone has personal stuff. 1. Own three computers with the latest configuration, one with Windows 2003 Server, one with Windows XP, and one for trying out Vista. They would all have the largest of sizes of display monitors with LCD screens, flat ones. Then, I'd have about four or five laptops, two hand-helds, and the latest mobile phone with a 6 GB drive. One one of my laptops, I would have Ubuntu, the other would be a Mac, and two would be spare for trying out other operating systems or distros. I have one iPod I dearly hold, cased in its delicate case ever since I bought it. Ever since the owner I became, it has stayed with me, silent and obedient, mounted on its base, hidden away secretly in my cupboard. I dread touching it for the fear of dirtying it. So, I just wish I had a spare for actually using. Such a miser I am. Oh no! I wish I had two of them as spares. One spare, I would use while walking down the subways, and the other I would use in situations where I could not use my laptops, mobiles or handhelds to listen to music. One such situation would be defecation in the loo. I could have just done with defecation and stopped there, but I had to deck my verse with the emphasis. I would then have one third spare iPod I think, which I would generously loan to my friends if they forgot to bring theirs. Or if they were poor little peasants who couldn't afford one and saught the favour of using mine, if only while they stood by my chair and listened. No, that is too harsh. I am a good man by heart. I do not entertain subservience of any kind. I would loan the third spare iPod without the vigil. And I wouldn't mind if my friends accidentally broke it. Delicate that it is, I must excuse them. And I wouldn't mind really because I'd be rich. Real bloody rich. And because I could afford a fourth spare. And all during these generous times, I would, of course, preserve the original one that I already do own even now, in truth the only one that I own, in its shrine, the sanctuary of my devotion. 2. I would buy a huge mansion where the floor would be as clean as glossy as mirrors, and the marble tiles would be polished everyday. 3. I would take my parents for a tour around the world. 4. I would take 3 months of vacation every year during which I would sleep all I wanted and watch movies and read all those books I have wanted to read. I'd like to finish all the books I have read in part. I would like to pick up each book I own and read it. I have bought many great books in the hope of finding time to actually read them one day. 5. I would buy more books from Amazon. And this time, unlike standard shipping, I'd opt for the most expensive and the fastest mode of delivery. 6. If I became so rich, so rich, so rich that I could make rules for everyone, I would declare five days in every week as holidays leaving the week with only two days of choice to be working days. 7. I would make everyone else rich too. I would start with the poor, the impoverished and quickly satiate all their needs. I would distribute my wealth amoung the needy. I would make sure that they had food, proper clothing, shelter, television, a computer each, education and sex everyday. I am not sure about the sex part but I am just saying it because it sounds nice. Kinda funny sortof. We young people are full of energy and physically active, but we have to sit for hours a day racking our brains. What we need to complement this way of life is something that can make up the lack of physical exercise and at the same time divert our attention for a while from our academic work. Intellecture activities such as chess games, reading novels, and listening to music can help us escape from our worries and make us forget our study for a moment, but they involve no physical activities and, what's more, they are more or less still a form of mental activities. For instance, we may feel mentally tired after some games of chess and our study will be affected. In contrast, physical recreation can provide us with a lot of physical exercises and true mental relaxation. A ballgame, for example, can build up our muscles, flex our joints, speed up our blood circulation, and enhance our bodily organs. After the game, we may feel physically exhausted, but we can sit down and get absorbed in our study more easily As the saying goes, you don’t know what happiness is until you lose it’ you don’t know what health is until you are ill. “Health is of vital importance to life” sounds like a cliche to ev eryone, but it is absolutely true. Sports are so popular on campus that they have become an indispensable part of school education. School athletics contribute both to students' physical well being and to their mental well-being. There is a new appreciation of the importance of sports as students' bodies are increasingly weak and vulnerable to disease because of inactivity. School authorities, as well as students themselves, have realized that sports are especially necessary to a person who works with his brain most of the day. Besides, sports offer a healthy form of escape from their monotonous routine studies. Taking part in swimming, jogging and ball games can make their academic life richer and fuller. And most importantly, sports help to promote the development of a student's personality. Such traits of character as competitiveness, self-discipline, teamwork and endurance--the things much needed in their later career and life--are encouraged and cultivated in sports. My View on Job-hopping People have different attitudes towards their work. Some prefer to stick to one occupation as their lifelong career. These people are of the opinion that one can never do his work well unless he is devoted to only one job in his lifetime. So if one changes his job frequently, he will not get the necessary experience needed in his work. Others, on the other hand, like to change their jobs at times. In their opinion, people work in order to make more money. If they havea chance to get a better paid job, they will certainly try to get this chance. Besides, if a person does only one job all his life, he will certainly be bored with it. My idea is that interest is the most important if one wants to excel others in his job. So if a person is not interested in his job, job hopping is normal and even necessary. Otherwise, he will suffer from his work, and inevitably, he is not likely to succeed in his career.
