Part One: Analysis of the teaching material
Status and Function
This unit is the second unit on << Go for it >> Book1. It focus on a very important grammar point—I have a headache/ shouldn’t = should not .The textbook start with the interesting topic -- what‘s the matter? By the way, it is great helpful to attract the attention of the student. Such a topic is related to daily life. So it is helpful to raise learning interests of students and it will be also helpful to improve their oral English
Part two: Analysis of the students
They can understand some words
and some simple sentences.
And this lesson is about health and
body , students have taken a great
interest in it.

Step 1 : Greet the class (4minutes)
T: How are you?
Ss: I’m fine. Thank you. How are you?
T: I have a cold. What should I do?
The students will give different advice:
看医生(see a doctor)休息(have a rest) ,吃药(take some medicines) and so on , teaching the phrases above, to prepare for the following dialogue
Step 2 : Presentation
Lead-in (1minute)
Today we’re going to talk about the matters. Let’s learn Unit 2 "What’s the matter? "
Step 3 : New words leaning (15minutes)
I will show the new word pictures for the students , let them guess the new words meaning. And then I will ask the students to use the sentence “What’s the matter?” to ask me when I do different expressions some words of disease. At the same time , ask them to put forward some suggestions by using the sentence pattern “ You should…"
For example
fever
sore throat
toothache
stomachache
Step 4: Listening(10minutes)
2a: Listen to the recording . Asked them pay attention to the first one has been done. The boy has a toothache and the advice is to see dentist. Then check the answers on the blackboard.
2b: First look at the four pictures. Each picture illustrates one of the conversation . Listen to the conversations again. This time listen for the missing words. Write the missing words on the blank lines.(Play the recording only one time)Then check the answers.
Step 5 :Pair work 2c (5minutes)
First I’ll ask two students read the dialogue in the box .
A: What’s the matter?
B: I have a toothache.
A: Maybe you should see a dentist.
B: That’s good idea.
Then practice the conversation in Activity 2b. Take turns having the problems and giving advice. Ask students to work in pairs. After they practice a while, have several pairs of student present their conversations to the class.

Step 7:Summary (3minutes)
This class we’ve learnt some advice to people who have health problems and care for others in their daily life .
