1.Baroque means irregular in Spanish. And it’s a symbol o f the unusual or absurd in
Europe.Baroque originally started in Italy in 1500s and later became extremely popular all over the Europe. in the 17th century.It’s universally acknowledged that Baroque art occupies a very important position in the Western artistic history. Furthermore, Baroque art is reflected especially in architecture. it. forms a new artistic language with its own characteristics .you may ask me why it was regarded as a new language.~now let’s look at some pictures to find answers .
2.This is the Versailles palace ,and this one is The Louvre east facade they are typical
samplse influenced by Classicism art, which was the mainstream art during the Renaissance period
3.As you can see there are at most two colors, simple color .both present characteristics of
classicism, like straight lines , which delivers a feeling of calm, serious ,stiff,….but Baroque style architecture are not in that way.
4.In contrast, this one is a typical sample influenced by Baroque art.There is a dome. Curve
makes it look more elegant ,soft. has three colors ,looking more vivid and lively. More samples. So. To draw a conclusion, Baroque totally goes against the art style as classicism in Renaissance period.Movement and change is the soul of Baroque, besides it emphasizes a sense of luxury ,passion, even mystery., this kind of architecture was Usually found in church and palace.Instead of simple design, it advocates complex structure, curves,intense color contrast.The spirit of Baroque art is enthusiasm ,romance, magnificence, breaking traditional boundries, persuing personality liberation.At last, I think, it’s worthy for us to look into and appreciate the beauty of Baroque art.
