The Department P&G IDS - Building Careers A P&G IDS career offers an exciting and fast paced environment to build Technical, Business and Leadership skills. You will apply these skills to deliver competitive advantage and significant business results within one of the world's top companies. IDS is a strategic capability for all P&G operations (e.g. Finance, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, Consumer Research, etc). P&G IDS is also a Global organization so you will have the opportunity to work closely with both IDS and Business experts from all over the world, and to work in a wide variety of assignments and technology environments. Your IDS Career Path at P&G A variety of exciting IDS assignments are available within P&G, including: Systems Analyst / Systems Manager: •  Develop, implement and/or support high impact IDS solutions Section Manager: •  Influence technology choices and create new business models using advanced Information Technology, Project Management, and Service Management knowledge and skills. Lead the IDS function within a business unit (e.g. subsidiary, plant, etc) Associate Director / Director: •  Establish IDS Strategy, Investment, Project Portfolio, and Organization Design direction. •  Work closely with Sr. P&G Business and IDS leaders, as well as Sr. Customers and Suppliers at the Regional and Global level. A P&G Greater China IDS Career: P&G Greater China IDS provides opportunities in two major areas. Business Application Systems P&G IDS professionals work closely with P&G business leaders, suppliers, customers and consumers to identify and leverage new technologies and business models that deliver significantly improved business results. Some recent examples include improving Consumer Understanding and building relationships with Consumers, and Improving Customer Service and Customer Profitability. Applications, Infrastructure & Operations P&G IDS professionals select, implement and operate a highly sophisticated Enterprise Resource Planning application platform (e.g. SAP), and computing and communications infrastructure supporting P&G's 85,000 employees globally. In some instances P&G IDS directly develops, deploys and supports IDS applications and infrastructure. P&G IDS also applies Industry Best-In-Class Service Management practices, and works in partnership with IDS Service Providers such as Hewlett-Packard and IBM to deliver other P&G IDS services. The P&G IDS Professional P&G IDS seeks individuals who possess a strong interest in applying IDS solutions to build the business, and who have demonstrated outstanding Leadership, Initiative, Problem Solving, Team Work, and Effective Communication skills. Ideal candidates have a Bachelors or Masters Degree in one or more of the following. •  Computer Science •  MIS •  Automation •  Electronic Engineering •  Mathematics •  Information Engineer •  Other degree with Computer & Electronic knowledge Successful Story Joining P&G IDS is the right choice to make. Dongfeng Chen - Director, Greater China MDO IDS/GBS (from Mainland China) I joined P&G in July 1990. In the past 15 years I've developed and applied my IDS and business skills to a wide variety of areas, including Manufacturing, Customer Service/ Logistics, Customer Business Development, etc.. I also had a one-year assignment in P&G Headquarters (the US). Besides P&G IDS responsibility, I represent P&G in China Chain & Franchise Association as the Vice Director of the Retailer IT Committee, and as a key member of China ECR (Efficient Consumer Response) Board. I was rewarded as 2004 China "Top 5 CIO" by IT Manager magazine. I believe that I made the right choice joining P&G's IDS organization for several reasons: Firstly, I've had chances to work on many different areas of our business, from Manufacturing to Sales, with a focus on integrating business with technology and delivering important business results. Secondly, I'm able to work with excellent people from all functions within P&G, as well as with our customers and suppliers. As my career progressed, I've been able to develop people and practice business management models, and become a P&G corporate trainer for several courses. Clearly that last 15 years have been exciting and rewarding. Exciting Career in P&G Tina Xu, IDS Session Manager of Customer Business Development, (from Mainland) I still remember the first day I joined P&G in July 1995, how exciting I was! I'm keeping this energy level until today. Within these 10 years, I developed from a management trainee to a mature IDS manager, and experienced a variety of areas in P&G, including manufacturing MRPII, site infrastructure setup & management, Customer Business Development IT innovation. I just finished a one-year assignment in P&G US Wal-Mart customer team, as the Customer Team System Manager for US Sam's business. I love my job and career in P&G, and believe 'Run IDS as a business' is the right strategy for both company and function: 1. As the IDS resource in Business function, I truly experience the how powerful of the business understanding could enable the IT solution solve the business issue and address business opportunity. 2. Continue driving the business result: IT system used in business function is not ending with project accomplishment. How to leverage the system to maximize the business result is our day to day operation. 3. Working with group of talents people, learn the new things encourage me everyday. Career interests being fulfilled Alvin Kam-Systems Manager, IDS, Greater China (from Hong Kong) My career objective was to work for a multinational company that had a strong commitment to training and developing its staff, and one that would provide continuous personal and career growth. I believe I have found this at P&G`s "build from within" philosophy is practiced at many levels, including:1) training opportunities that match business needs and personal interests, and 2) managers providing valuable on-the-job training and career coaching. P&G Management trusts its employees and provides employees important responsibilities early in their careers. Upon joining P&G 4 years ago I was immediately assigned as the project manager for an external supply chain optimization project with one of HongKong`s key retailers. This assignment provided daily challenges and vast opportunities to work with internal and external senior management, and industry groups. My managers have continuously supported my career interests. Most recently I was provided an overseas assignment based in Singapore. I am currently the ASEAN project manager for a large scale project implementing an online work flow application supporting ASEAN`s business tax model. In this role I am traveling across 9 countries and working closely with people of many different cultures and backgrounds.
