Thanks God It’s Monday This article tells us that different people have different attitudes on work, what are the factors that people will like their work and feel happy from work. The main content of the article is as follows, it is reported that the experience of being happy at work looks very similar across professions. A person want to work like a duck to water, therefore he must have to work very hard.However an even bigger obstacle may be our low expectations on the job if we want to get happiness from our work.MihalyCsikszentmihalyi, who coined the term flow, says "Anything can be enjoyable if the elements of flow are present, within that framework, doing a seemingly boring job can be a source of greater fulfillmentthan one ever thought possible." Csikszentmihalyi encourages us to reach a statethat we are immersed in the pleasure of work, we should take heart though that sounds out of reach, because happy workers not only are happier in life but are also crucial to the health of a company. Thirty-five years ago, the Gallup Organization started researching why people in certain work groups, even within the same company, were so much more effective than others. The results of the survey show thatthe state of worker happiness goes much deeper than the swings of the economy.James Harter, a psychologist directing that research at Gallup, says the key factor what makes workers happy is strong relationships with co-workers and a supportive boss, in other words, it shows a high level of belonging whichis foremost. The author believes that a job that looks good on paper can make a worker miserablewithout a high level of belonging. Harter estimates that individual disposition accounts for only about 30% of the difference between employees who are highly engaged and those who are not. The rest of it is shaped by the hundreds of interactions that employees have every day with co-workers, supervisors and customers. The most direct solution is to seek out a supportive workplace. Finding a job that fits a life calling unlocks the door to happiness.Numerous studies have shown correlations between meaningful work and happiness, job satisfaction and even physical health. People can find meaning in anything. According to a survey, the author hold that we're able to reconstruct and make sense of our work and what we do if we adjust the attitude, then we will feel the happiness from work.After a series of investigation and study, the investigators found what affect the employees is not the change of the physical environment, but the change of social environment. The researchers gradually realized that the key factor is happy feeling.The change of the employee depends on the leadership of the company in large degree, so bosses should find strength in both themselves and their employees. Finally the author draw the conclusion that the purpose of writing this article is not necessarily create a world in which people love their work above everything else. At the very least, businesses could do better just by paying attention to what their employees want and need. Then more of us could find a measure of fulfillment in what we do. And once in a while, we might hope to transcend it all.
