Step 1 Greetings
Greet the students as usual.
Step 2 Lead in
Write the numbers in 1a on the blackboard and then read.
The students read after the teacher.
Ask:What do you know about this number,8,844,43?
以这种方式让学生说出珠穆朗玛。
Then the students look at the picture and say the names of the four places.
Then the teacher makes a brief introduction about the four places and show some pictures on the screen to arouse the students’ interest.
Step 3 1a-1c
Let the students finish the task in 1a and check the answers.
Then let the students go through the sentences in 1b and make predictions about the blanks.
Then play the tape for the first time and fill in the blanks.
Play the tape for the second time .(提醒学生注意比较级和最高级配合使用的结构)
Work on 1c let them practice the conversation in pairs.
The teacher shows the following question:
What do you know about these places? (引导学生将1a和1b中的关于同一个地方的信息连在一起说出来) 教师示范如下:
Qomolangma is higher than any other mountain in the world. It is 8,844,43 meters high.
然后讲解表示度量的结构(…high,…deep,…long,…in size)
Step 4 Game
Show some numbers on the screen and let the students read them out .(或者读一些数字然后让学生写出来)
Step 5 2a-2d
Show the four numbers on the screen and let the students read them aloud.
学生四人一组比较这四个数字,看哪个小组用到的表示比较的句子多。
e.g. 6,300 is the largest number.300 is the smallest number.
Then let the students go through the sentences in 2a and make predictions about the blanks.
Then play the tape for the first time and number the sentences.
Play the tape for the second time and fill in the blanks.
Check the answers and let the students read the sentences aloud.
Divide the students into groups and two is a pair. One is a Chinese; the other is an Amrican.
Then let them practice the conversation in 2c(提醒学生注意时态Did you know…?)
Step 6 2d
First show the following question:What’s the conversation about?(It’s about a tour to the Ming Great Wall.)

The students read the conversation for the second time and answer another two questions:
How long is the Ming Great Wall?
What does the guide say about the wall?
Play the tape and ask the students to read after the tape.
Then practice the conversation in pairs.
