To be able to talk about festivals and culture differences. Emotion To realize the differences between different cultures. Project Content Aims Teaching procedures Step1: Preparation and warm up 1.Greetings T: Have you ever been abroad? Have you ever bought Chinese products in the foreign countries? Where? T: Brian and Jenny also went to Chinatown to buy some gifts for their Christmas. Would you like to see what Chinatown is like? 2. Show the pictures and different utensils for them to choose. Motivate the students and lead to our topic: Chinatown and culture differences. Step2: Presentation Task 1:Individual work (Listen and Answer) 1. Listen to the dialogue on the left and take notes. 2.Do the exercises: (1) Brian and Jenny went shopping in Chinatown.( ) T/F (2) They went shopping because _________is coming. (3) What did they buy? (4) What did Brian have for lunch? (5) Translate: Danny and I watched a wonderful dragon dancing performance during the Spring Festival last year. 3. Read and check the answers by yourself. 4. Discuss about the answers in your group and check the answers together. Task 2:Group work (Read and write) 1. Match the different festivals with the pictures. 2. Work together to find the special things about the Spring Festival. 3. Write down what you find on your group paper. 4. Share your paper with others. Get to know about the content and key information about the lesson through listening. Students can understand better through reading, and Check their answers. Know more about different festivals and culture differences. Step3: Practice Know more 1. Read a passage about the Spring Festival. 2. Do the exercises about the reading. Step4 :Production 1. Do a project about culture differences in the Spring Festival and Christmas. Group 1: Find the facts about the Spring Festival and add more. Group 2: Find the facts about Christmas and add more. 2. Discuss about the same things. Know more about the details about the Spring Festival to get ready for the next project. Students can get more information with the facts and find out the culture differences and the same points. Step5 :Progress One student from every group makes a report. Others 1. Think about what the differences and the same things between the two cultures are. 2. Take notes while listening to the report. Use the expressions to express the culture differences and the same things. Practice listening. Learn from each other. Home- work Choose one from below: 1. Write down a report about the culture differences and the same things in the two festivals. 1) About 60-80 words. 2) Try to use the words we learned today. 3) Pay attention to the grammar and hand-writing. 2. Make a poster about a festival. (Chinese/Foreign) Choose their favorite and proper way to use what we’ve learned today. Board Design
