A Pair of Tickets 读后感
To begin with, this story gives me a warm feeling because I am a Chinese and it is about the travel back to China. Now, what I truly want to shed a light on is the timeline that June May provides with three different times. The timeline refers to the moment June May thought about her sisters and linkedwith their growing up process. The points made me interest in are that why June thought her sisters as babies, how she felt when she connected the growth of sisters andevents, and more importantly, why she did not continuously trace the growth of her sisters when she back to China. Normally, people will picture others’physical standards around their appropriate age so I wonder if June would picture two young ladies who look like her mom. However, June saw sisters as baby gives me a sense that she totally got into her mother’s memory. Hence, June might travel back with her mother’s memory to the time when her mother left the crying twins. Then, the twins grew up to six when she received the letter from China and to ten when Aunt Lin replied the letter to them. Possibly, June was both happy and worried. She was truly delight to know that her siblings still alive so that she imaged that the six-year-old twins held big hope for the reply. Just like what we do in daily life, waiting parents coming back from work. However, the more June felt excited, the more she got to worry about. After such a long waiting, at ten, the twins eventually got the answer from “mother”. At this moment, June might think that it is too hard to tell the truth to them but lying does not help. This reply pushed the plots moving forward because June was responsible to complete her mother’s last whish: reunion. Lastly, I supposed many probabilities that why June did not continue to think the age of her sister. First, she was too busy meeting other family members in Guangzhou. Second, she got too many scattered questions that distract her from logically imaging the twins’ age and actions to eagerly finding out the whole story of mother. Third, she was too nervous or overwhelmed to think of it. To me, she eliminated the need to consider it rather than stop thinking of it.I think that thoseimaginations come from the fear in June’s heart. She thought that the young girls should have been safely protected like her so that she was reluctant to tell such a heart-broken thing to them. Finally realized, June must be the one to inform the death of their mother. Thus, even though she felt extremely tense after landing, all the anxieties transform to gratification and excitement when she met with her sisters. All in all, the timeline forms a traceable cue for us to meticulously connect each emotion changing with impressive events. This type of narrative is interesting to me because it fine and smoothly brings me back and forth between the character’s mood and surroundings.
