So it’s time for us to learn the best way to be polite. Bang! good manners. Let’s learn Wha t should we do? Come on, let’s try together, then we’re sure to get it right! First let’s smile and be friendly, and let’s help each other out. Being kind and caring – that’s what manners are about! Next we all must try to learn to take turns with our toys, for then we’re good at sharing, and we’re thoughtful girls and boys! To ys are for sharing! And of course, we shouldn’t fight, and we shouldn’t name-call, too. If someone won’t play nicely, we ask a grown-up what to do. Excuse me. He’s not Go away! being nice. 1. Please 2. Thank you 3. Excuse me 4. Sorry Now let’s learn the magic words. Here they are from one to four. If we say them, we’re polite – so let’s use them more and more! Let’s start by saying “please”. We should practise every day. Whenever we ask for things, “please” is what we need to say. Yes, Pleas e, can you h elp me? Would you like a drink? A bis cuit, please! Mmm! please. Yes, please. Please, Mum! The next words to remember are very important, too. For anything we’re given, we must always say “thank you”. T hank you. T his is fo r you. A bis cuit, please! Mmm! Wo w!Yes, please. Now butting in and pushing past – that’s rude as rude can be! Instead, show how polite you are by saying “excuse me”. And here’s the last magic word. You might think it rather small, but when you can say “sorry”, you’re the kindest of them all! Ex cuse me. I’m sorry. That’s okay! Now we know all our manners, and we’ve nearly reached the end, but before we close this book, let’s remind ourselves again... Be friendly and be helpful. Share your toys and take your turn. All these things show we’re polite – what’s more, they’re fun to learn! Y ou’re Tha nk you! w elcome. Thank It’s your turn now. you! “ex cus e me.” Sa y “please .” Remember the magic words.
