Show the picture of Section B,picture b.Ask:

T:What is the alien doing while the man is running?

S:It's running after the man.

T:Are they running at the same time?

S:Yes,the alien is running while the man is running.

T:Yes,not only the man is running but also the alien is running.Do both of them feel scared?

S:The man feels scared but the alien doesn't.

T:Why does the man feel scared?

S:The man feels scared because the alien is running after them.

3.Write down the linking words in your dialogue on the board.

★Step 2 Cooperative inquiry 【合作探究】

1.Finish the task in 2a

①Work in groups.What do these linking words mean and what are their purpose?

②Look at the frame in 2a.Match them and learn these words.

2.Finish the task in 2b

①Look at the picture in 2b.Ask:Do you know the name of this place?Skim the passage for the main ideas of this passage.

②Read the passage quickly again.Underline the linking words in the paragraphs and learn how to use them.

③Read the passage carefully.Say the main meaning of each paragraph.Learn the new words and expressions and show how to use them.

   In this period,the most important thing is reading.It is a good time to train the students' ability of reading quickly and efficiently.While reading,students should learn to catch the main and the most important ideas as quickly as they can.They must learn some new words and new language items.They practice the use of linking words.They need to learn some long sentences in the reading passage.

After reading,we do some oral practice and discuss some questions to check how well the students learn from the passage.
