Product Specification Cartons/Packaging Test Standard Issue date: Jun 7, 04 Revision date: Page 1 of 4 Document EN111 1.0 Introduction All products to be shipped to Salton groups of company should pass package test, which based on standard of International Safe Transit Association (ISTA). Depending on the nature and weight of goods ISTA-1A, ISTA-1B, ISTA-2A or ISTA-2B procedure would be used. Please refer to Salton’s Vendor Manual for classification. The following paragraphs determine each procedure in detail according to ISTA requirement. After either ISTA-2A or ISTA-1A procedure, Hi-pot test, Leakage current test and Power input test will be done to verify any damage to the product as well. 2.0 Scope These packaging requirements cover all products including but not limited to electrical appearance, hard goods, glass, ceramic, extra larger goods for export by surface. 3.0 Testing 3.1 ISTA-2A procedure ISTA -2A covers testing of individual packaged-products weighting 150pounds or less for surface shipment. There have 4 tests within ISTA-2A, which is conditioning test, compression test, 1st vibration test, drop test/shock test and 2nd Vibration test. 3.1.1 Conditioning Sample would be stored at 38 ±к 2к, relatively humidity 85%±5% for 72 hours, then stored at 60 ±к 2к, relatively humidity 30%±5% for 6hours by using conditioning machine comply with ISTA requirement Anticipated conditions Time in Hours Temperature in ±к 2к Humidity in % Tropical (Wet) Then desert (Dry): 72 then 6 38к then 60к 85%RH±5% then 30%RH ±5% 3.1.2 Compression Add a compression load on the sample for ONE hour. By using weight DW, and by using compression machine complied with ISTA requirement.
