Pull theBattery Chamber Cover Latch at thebottom of the camera body in the di-rection of the arrow and the ChamberCover can be removed.Battery CheckFirst insert the battery terminal intothe Battery Chamber and press thebattery’s terminal in while confirmingbattery polarity. Then close the cover.Before inserting the battery arrangethe battery removal ribbon correctlypassing it under then over the bat-tery. Consequently the battery canbe removed easily by pulling the endof the ribbon.When the Battery Check Button located on the front of the camera isdepressed the Battery Check Lamp lights up. The lamp will not light ifthe battery capacity is insufficient or ifthe battery is inserted incorrectly.12Caution:1. Carefully wipe the contacts of thebattery before inserting it into thechamber. Failure to do this could resultin poor electrical contact and conse-quent erratic functioning of the camera.2. When the camera is not used for along period of time remove the batteryand store it in a cool dry place.3. Battery life differs depending onbattery brand period after manufac-ture storage conditions temperatureduring operation and operating fre-quency. Prior to use check the batterycondition using a battery checker.It is recommended that you take aspare battery with you when going outon a photographic trip for example.4. This camera is designed for usewith either a silver-oxide or alkaline-manganes battery. However. the life ofa silver-oxide battery will be muchlonger. The silver-oxide battery is pre-fered when the AE Prism Finder isattached.At times it may be necessary to rotatethe film advance crank two full turns tocock the shutter when an empty take-upOperation Test Remove the Dark SlidePull out the Dark slide and place itinto the Dark Slide Storage Slot. Set the Lever to “MULTI”Set the Multiple Exposure Lever tothe “MULTI mark position. Turn the Wind-up CrankAdvance the Wind-up Crank onecomplete revolution. Release the ShutterSet the Shutter Release Selectorto the mark and press thebutton.Loading the FilmWhile pushing the Back Cover Lock While squeezing in on both sides ofRelease Button downward press the Release Latch pull the Roll Filmthe Back Cover Opening Button Insert out of the camera body. At thatand the Back Cover will open. time move the empty spool in theupper part down to the lower spoolcompartment.Align the right-hand side of this emptyspool with the lower Spool Stud convex. Slide the spool into positionmaking sure that the left-side of thespool is properly held by the Spool Clip.14In the same manner insert a roll of filmin the upper compartment. At that timecheck that the film leader paper is setas shown in the photo above. Theleader paper inside is facing outwardon the pressure plate. Note that thefilm direction is wrong if the leaderpaper is facing inward.Pull out some of the leader paper. Gently rotate the Take-up Spool in theInsert the tip of the leader paper into direction of the arrow until the startthe slot of the lower Take-up Spool. mark of the leader paper is alignedwith the start mark A on the SpoolClip. Correctly align the start markswith each other taking care that thefilm is not rolled excessively.15Insertion of the Roll Film InsertMemo CllpInsert the loaded Roll Film Insertstraight into the holder as shown in thephoto above. Be sure to check that theRoll Film Insert has been completelyset before closing the Back Cover.The Memo Clip on the Back Cover isused to hold the box top of the film inuse or a piece of paper for storingnecessary data.16There are two methods for advanc-ing film to the first frame.In either case when loading the filmalways align the film with its start mark.Film Advancing after the Roll FilmHolder is mounted onto the Body:Make sure that the Multiple ExposureLever is aligned with a white squaredot. Wind the Wind-up Crank until itstops and the number 1 will appear inthe Film Counter Window.The shutter is now cocked and thecamera is ready for the first exposure.Film Advancing by Film AdvanceKnob of the Roll Film HolderCheck that the Dark Slide is com-pletely inserted light blocked. Whenthe Film Advance Knob of the RollFilm Holder is rotated in the direction ofthe arrow until it stops the camera willbe ready for the first exposure.It should be noted that when theCoupling Pin refer to the manual forthe Roll Film Holder is depressedwith the finger the film will not stop atthe first frame.17Align your desired shutter speed withthe white alignment index In other than the and marks thedial will rotate freely and each shut-ter speed display will stop at the clickpoint.18 Color CodingThe yellow 4 and 2 represent fullseconds. and all other figures represent the denominator of a frac-tion. Thus. 30 equals 1/30 sec.The yellow B represents BULB.When the Shutter Speed Dial is setto B the Shutter remains open aslong as the Shutter Release Suttonis depressed.The red 60 1/60 sec representsthe highest permissible shutterspeed for electronic flash syn-chronization.The red mark is the AE position.and is the AE Lock position.These marks are used with the AEPrism Finder N. When the PrismFinder N and Waist Level Finder Nare attached and the dial is set at or the effective shutter speedis 1/1000 sec.Set the Shutter Speed Dial only tothe click stop position. .
