Around 400 B.C., the King of Kaiming moved its capital here, developing a new city called “Chengdu”meaning “the making of a city”, Since then, Chengdu has been the capital of Sichaun for more than 2,000 years and the name remains unchanged. In 316 B. C., Li Bing, the Shu governor of Qin dynasty led the local people to build the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, turning Chengdu Plain into a grainstore粮仓. In the Han dynasty, a first public school in China was set up in Chengdu by Wen Weng. So it is a city with a very long history. Today, the city has developed very quickly. It is the leading city in western China. The living standard of Chengdu people has been greatly improved. The living pace is kind of slow and casual. It has been reputed 被誉为as a leisure city. Many people when they have been here, they find it so fascinating吸引人的,迷人的that they all feel reluctant不情愿的to leave, because they can experience almost everything here, the traditional and the fashionable. The good number of teahouses can well justify this. Well, we are getting across the Jinjiang River(the River of Brocade). It gets the name because of the prosperous brocade production as early as the Han dynasty over 2,000 years ago. Your hotel is named after this river. It is just on the other side of the river.
