教育对贫穷的影响education and poverty

Benjamin Franklin once said “Genius without education is like silver in the mine”. Similarly, the development of a country cannot be separated from education.  A country can develop only when all the people can live a good life. Poor people can live better only when they get well educated. As a result, changing the situation of education is the best way to narrow the wealth gap because good education can help the next generation live better, good education can decrease the crime rate, and good education can promote the development of technology. First, due to the future of the next generation of poor families, it is urgent to change the situation of education. In China, there are still many children who do not have the chance to go to school. As we all know, all men are created equal; therefore, all men should also have the equal right to get educated. As a result, the government of China should pay more attention to education and increase financial input so that the poor children can also go to school and get educated. If the poor children can get educated, maybe they will live better than the children born in a rich family, but if they cannot go to school, they will never have the chance to lead a good life. Therefore, considering the future of next generation, it is urgent to change the situation of education. Second, there are several reasons why the lack of humanistic education causes more criminal incidents among poor people so that the poor will become poorer. If poor people cannot get educated, they may know little about law, which makes it easier for them to break the law. What’s more, if they cannot get educated, they may become hostile to the society and become prejudiced against the rich. This kind of pessimistic feelings will cause serious mental problems so that they finally commit a crime. Therefore, to reduce the rate of crime, it is important for government to give poor people more chances to be educated. Last but not least, there are several reasons why good education will promote technological development. Firstly, there are a lot of talents among poor people who may help the country a lot if they get well educated. Moreover, the poor can endure the difficulties when studying in a bad environment. In addition, most poor people are more ambitious than rich people because they want to achieve more and contribute more to the development of technology to prove their value. Only when the country develops a lot, can the people in the country live better and the wealth gap be narrowed. Hence, good education can lead to the development of technology and a prosperous and strong country. Therefore, to balance the rich and the poor, it is essential to change the current education because of the future of the next generation, the increasing crime rate and the development of technology. What people learn in school can influence their whole life. Hence, poor children need more chances to get better educated and poor people need more chances to improve their humanistic quality. In this way, the country can become more harmonious and stable. Just as what Franklin said, education is indeed important not only to people’s life but also to the country.
