Mark Twain
He (November 30, 1835 – April 21, 1910) was an American author and humor. He is istmost noted for his novels, The Adventures of Tom Sawye (1876), and itsrAdventures of Huckleberry Finn (1885), the latter often called "the Great American Novel."He achieved great success as a writer and public speaker. His wit and satire earned praise from critics and peers, and he was a friend to presidents, artists, industrialists, and European royalty.
Twain was born during a visit by Halley's Comet, and he predicted that he would "go out with it" as well. He died the day following the comet's subsequent return. He was lauded as the "greatest American humorist of his age," and William Faulkner called Twain "the father of American literature."Twain's views became more radical as he grew older. He acknowledged that his views changed and developed over his life, referring to one of his favorite works.

His first three books gained much contemporary attention , and after a fast-blooming literary success in the late 1840s, his popularity declined precipitously in the mid-1850s and never recovered during his lifetime. When he died in 1891, he was almost completely forgotten. It was not until the "Melville Revival" in the early 20th century that his work won recognition, especially Moby-Dick, which was hailed as one of the literary masterpieces of both American and world literature.
