SURVEY REPORT This is to Certify That We the undersigned Marine & Container Surveyors did at the request of Hapag-Lloyd (China) Ltd. attended on the 26th October 2011 at the premises of Guangzhou HuangPu Terminal, South PRC. for the purpose of inspecting /examining one 40’HC container FSCU6155415 allegedly previously found damaged whilst in laden transit storage at the port of South PRC , Guangdong Province, Guangzhou City, HuangPu district, HuangPu Terminal. We report as follows: Ex-Vessel (1st Carrier): Hapag-Lloyd Ltd. Vsl./Voy.: ESSEN EXPRESS  87W34 Port of loading : LOS ANGELES, CA Port of discharge : SHENZHEN DA CHAN BAY  terminal one Feeder Company (2nd Carrier): SHENZHEN HUIHONG Shipping co. Ltd Barge Name: “HUIHONG818” Final Destination : HuangPu, Guangzhou, South PRC. Shipper :     EXXONMOBIL CHEMICAL COMPANY  13501 KATY FREEWAY HOUSTON, TX 77079 Consignee : EXXONMOBIL CHEMICAL SERVICE(SHANGHAI) CO.,LTD  1099 ZIXING ROAD, MINHANG DISTRICT, SHANGHAI PR CHINA Contents :   17 wooden Pallets, 935 BAGS SYNTHETIC RESIN General Information: - From the information available, we were led to understand that the above-mentioned Containers No FSCU6155415 was found Terminal operation damaged at SHENZHEN DA CHAN BAY Terminal one during container discharged operation on 15th October 2011. And this container was shipped by 2nd carrier on 19th October 2011 for HuangPu Terminal. And we were therefore requested to be present at HuangPu Termianal to inspect and verify the condition of the container and the cargoes. Our Survey & Attendance: On our attendance at the aforesaid location at local time, we noticed that the above-mentioned laden container was set at the stack yard, with the door closed and the customs seal attached on without any damage, pending our survey. On the spot, we first inspected the outward condition of the laden container, then, under Customs and Terminal’s member and surveyors of relative parties supervision, the customs seal on this laden container was cut off and the doors of the container were opened with our site persons above mentioned presence, and it was noticed that although the R/H side panel of this containers were damaged & deformation seriously, but it was found the cargoes are under good condition with wooden pallet because of good bundle and enough space, under consignee’s suggestion, all pallets cargoes inside  were devanned out for inspection, and found the package of plastic bags of the cargo under good condition, at time 15:20 , we completed our supervision and the findings are recorded as follows: Surveyor attendance: Description & Load specifications of container: Upon Visual Inspection of the container where accessible, same was noted to be damaged as below-mentioned: Container Identification: Type of make: 40’HC Date of Manufacture: 5/1999 CSC Approval Code: F/BV/4763/94 1. Exterior R/H side panel middle section/ distorted  500 x 260 cm. 2. Exterior R/H side panel, middle section found two holes, one is 2x2cm and the other is  4x4cm. 3. Right side bottom rail middle section was found deformation with 15cm. 4. Two pieces floorboards were found upward  deformation 10cm. 5. Three pieces of bottom crossmembers were found upward deformation 10cm. Surveyor’s Notes & Comments: According to the above observation, this container FSCU6155415 was shipped to SHENZHEN DA CHAN BAY Terminal one ex ESSEN EXPRESS 87W34, when container discharged at SHENZHEN DA CHAN BAY Terminal one, Operation damage was occurred to this container FSCU6155415, then this unit was shipped to the destination of HuangPu Terminal. During our inspection on the spot of HuangPu Terminal, this contrainers was found dented/distorted & broken as above mentioned. The cargoes are under good & safety condition because of good bundle and enough space. Cause of Damage & Conclusion: We find that the container was impacted at the R/H side panels middle section. During our inspection on the spot of HuangPu Terminal, this container was found dented/distorted & broken as above mentioned. The cargoes are under good & safety condition with wooden pallet because of good bundle and enough space. After inspection finished, all the cargos moved to the Dingshen logistics company storage, and this empty damaged unit left in the HuangPu terminal yard. This report reflects our findings at time & place indicated above only & does not refer to any other matters. This survey has been carried out to the best of our knowledge & ability where accessible to us and our responsibility is limited to the exercise of reasonable care. Any comments so written in this report are given on a without prejudice basis & are based solely on the evidence as presented during our survey & subject to any tests that may be carried out to support such evidence.
