Unit 7 Lesson 53 Hello, everyone. I’m MengWeina from Experimental Middle School. Today I'm very pleased to have an opportunity to talk about some of my teaching ideas. My topic is Ringing up Li Ming. It’s taken from Lesson 53of Unit 7.It's made up of four parts. Part 1 My understanding of this lesson The analysis of teaching material 1) Status and function The lesson is a listening and speaking course. It’s from the fifth lesson of Unit 7.The content is "How to ring up”, but it's related to our life. 2)Teaching aims and demands ①Knowledge objects: Understanding the main idea of the text. Make the students learn to make a telephone call in English. ②Ability objects: The students can make a phone call frequently. ③Emotion objects: Enable the students to have desire to study English .Encourage the students to speak more English. 3)Main teaching points and different points How to understand the text better. The different cultures between Canada and Britain. 4)Teaching aims blackboard tape recorder multimedia Part 2 Analysis of the students Most of students aren't good at English. They don't dare to speak English, so I encourage them to speak more English and express themselves. Some students aren't active in class, I always say" open your mouth, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes” Part3.Teaching methods Before dealing with this lesson, I'll do my best to carry out the following theories: Make the students the real masters in class while the teacher herself acts as director; I’ll use Communication Methods ,Free Discussion Method and Pair Work . Part4 Teaching steps I have designed the following steps to train their ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially listening and speaking. The entire steps are: Step1 Greetings Greet the whole class as usual Steps2 Questions 1.Warming up Give them a relaxed atmosphere through a song .From the song they will know the place is China. Li Ming is in China. How do Danny,Jenny,Brian contact with Li Ming? Yes,they contact him by telephone ,e- mail and so on.(How do you contact with your friend?) 2 Questions 1Do you often call your friends? 2 What do you usually talk about on the phone? Step3Lead-in and preparation for listening 1)Divided the students into six groups, ask them to think about some sentences or phrases about making a telephone call and ask the groups to answer . 2 )Then show these sentences on the screen and give them two minutes to fill in the blanks and then listening to the tape 3 Give the group two minutes to make another dialogue (Which group is the best?) Step4Fast reading 1)The students know the lesson is about calling .How many ways do they know about calling? 2 )Give them the new word and make some sentences. 3 )Read the text as quickly as they can. I show the questions on the screen and let them answer. ①What would Brian like to do for his report on Asia? ②Who tells Brian Li Ming’s telephone number? ③What time is it in China when it is afternoon in Canada? ④Does Brian ring up Li Ming’s apartment? ⑤How is the weather in Shijiazhuang? ⑥Can Li Ming help Brian with his report? Step5Explain the main expressions in this text. Step6Come to “LET’S DO IT!” Step7. Homework Finish off the exercises in activity book.
