The GPUs are sorted by performance and classified in different classes. To get a better overview on current laptop graphic cards, older cards can be greyed out. For more informations please refer to our benchmark lists and gaming performance list. Class 1 High End Graphics Cards - These cards are compareable to enthusiasm desktop graphics cards, like the 9800M GT. The cards have a similar core, as their desktop counterparts, but are clocked lower and often have less shader processors. Modern games like Age of Conan, Race Driver Grid, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, or Gothic 3 should run fluently with high details (Crysis should run in medium to high details). 禄 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 Crossfire The Crossfire Dual ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 or X2 is a combination of two Mobility 5870. It suffers from micro stuttering in low framerates and needs a lot of power. The performance should be 0-80% better than a single 5870. 700 MHz, 1600 - unified, DX11 | 1000 MHz, 128 Bit 禄 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285M SLI ~ 100% Two GeForce GTX 285M graphics cards in SLI combination. About 0-40% faster than a single GTX 285M and due to the slightly higher clock rate only a bit faster than a GTX 280M SLI combination. The two cards are somewhere between 0-40% faster than a single GTS and need the twice amount of current. As all SLI combinations, micro stuttering can be an issue. 600 MHz, 128 - unified, DX10 | 800 MHz, 256 Bit 禄 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 X2 ~ 89% Two Mobility Radeon 3870 graphics cards (on MXM boards) combined in crossfire mode. The crossfire mode is compareable to the SLI solution by Nvidia and should perform about 20-40% better than a single 3870. As all multi GPU solutions today, the HD 3870 X2 suffers from micro stuttering (at frame rates around 30 fps). 660 MHz, 640 - unified, DX10.1 | 850 MHz, 256 Bit 禄 NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX SLI ~ 78% Two Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX are combined by SLI with the purpose to offer the fastest graphic performance for laptops. DirectX 10 games should run fluently with high details. According to AMD the performance should be compareable to an 8800M GTX SLI. 580 MHz, 640 - unified, DX10.1 | 750 MHz, 256 Bit 禄 NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M ~ 70% Professional high-end mobile workstation graphics card with certified drivers. Because of the 128 Bit memory bus, the used (G)DDR3 should be the bottle neck of this card. 500 MHz, 800 - unified, DX11 | 800 MHz, 128 Bit 禄 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4830 ~ 60% Slower clocked Mobility Radeon HD 4860 and therefore also based on the 40nm RV740 chip (desktop HD 4700 series). Supports only DDR3 and GDDR3 instead of GDDRR5 in the HD 4860. 550 MHz, 640 - unified, DX10.1 | 700 MHz, 128 Bit 禄 NVIDIA GeForce GTS 150M * Slower clocked GeForce GTS 160M and therefore also based on the G94b core. 400 MHz, 64 - unified, DX10.0 | 800 MHz, 256 Bit Class 2 Midrange Graphics Cards - These cards should be able to display all current games with fluent framerates but not all with high detail settings. Especially demanding games like Crysis, Age of Conan, or Mass Effect are only playable with lower settings. Less demanding (and older) games, like Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, or Battlefield 2142 can be played with higher detail levels. 禄 NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS ~ 53% The Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTS is based upon the Desktio G92 chip and offers a better performance than the GeForce 8700M GT due to a 256 bit memory bus and much more Shaders. The amount of shaders is lower than with the GTX version (64 versus 96). 500 MHz, 64 - unified, DX10 | 800 MHz, 256 Bit 禄 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5770 * Fastest model of the HD 5600/5700 series with GDDR5 support. The HD 5770 is not based on the desktop HD 5770, but a faster clocked Mobility Radeon HD 5650 with 400 shaders. 650 MHz, 400 - unified, DX11 | 800 MHz, 128 Bit 禄 ATI M
