ownstreamsidesoftheclosureelementsealswhenthevalveisintheclosedpositionNOTEWhilethestandardisforthistobeequaltotheCWPtheremaybecircumstancesthatdictatealesserpressuredifference.2.11doubleblock-and-bleedvalvevalvewithtwoseparateclosureseatingsurfacesthat,whenintheclosedposition,blockflowfrombothendswherethecavitybetweenthetwoseatingsurfacesisfittedwithableedconnectiontowhicheithertemporaryorpermanentpipingorpipingcomponentsmaybeinstalled3Conditionsrelevanttopressuretesting3.1Purchaserexaminationoptions3.1.1Apurchasermayspecify,inavalveprocurementpurchaseorder,examinationandpressuretestingrequirementsalongwiththeopportunitytobewitnesstospecificin-processexaminationsandtestsasregardsvalvesthatarethesubjectofthepurchaseorder.Inthisevent,arepresentativeofthepurchasershallbeallowedaccesstothoseareasofthemanufacturer'ssitethatareinvolvedwithrelatedexaminationandpressuretestingofthepurchaseordervalves.3.1.2Whenapurchaserspecifiesexaminationsortestingtobewitnessedasdescribedin3.1.1,thevalvemanufacturershallgivenoticetothepurchaseratleastfiveworkingdayspriortothepurchaseorderspecifiedactivity.3.2WitnessingIfpressuretestinginthepresenceofarepresentativeofthepurchaserisspecifiedforvalvesthatareinstock,paintedorcoatedvalvesfromstockmayberetestedwithoutremovalofpaintingorcoating.ISO5208:2008(E).ISO2008–Allrightsreserved33.3ClosurepressuretestingoptionsApurchasermayspecify,inavalveprocurementpurchaseorder,optionalclosuretesting.SeeTable1.4Requirementsforpressuretesting4.1ForewarningAuserofthisInternationalStandardneedstoproperlytakeintoaccountthehazardinvolvedwithworkingwithpressurizedgasesandliquids.4.2LocationPressuretestsshalltakeplaceeitheratthesiteofthevalvemanufactureoratatestfacilityunderthesupervisionofthevalvemanufacturer.4.3Testequipment4.3.1Thetestequipmentshallbeofsuchadesign,thatitdoesnotsubjectthevalvetoexternallyappliedloadsthatmayaffecttheresultsofthetest.Whenend-clampingdevicesareused,thevalvemanufacturershallbeabletodemonstratethat,duringthevalveclosuretest,theydonotservetoreducetheresultantleakage.Valvesdesignedforinstallationbetweenflanges,e.g.waferstylecheckorbutterflyvalves,shallnothavetestequipmentclampingforcesappliedthataresogreatastobearuponthepressuretestresults.4.3.2Whenequipmentsuchasvolumelossdetectiondevicesareused,themanufacturershallbecapableofdemonstratingequivalenceofthesystemwiththerequirementsofthisInternationalStandard.4.4PressuremeasuringequipmentTheequipmentusedformeasuringtestfluidpressureshallmeasurethefluidpressurewithanaccuracyof5%oftherequiredtestpressure.4.5ShellsurfacesBeforetheshelltest,valvesshallnotbeexternallypaintedorotherwisecoatedwithmaterialscapableofsealingagainstleakagefromexternalsurfacesoftheshell.However,valveswithinternalliners,internalliningsorinternalcoatingsthatformadesignfeatureofthevalvemaybetestedwiththeliner,liningorcoatinginplace.Intheeventapurchaserspecifiesaretestoftheshelltestofvalvesthathavebeenpainted,retestingmaybewithoutremovalofexternalpaintorcoatings.4.6TestfluidThetestfluidtobeused,asspecifiedintherelevanttestsdetailedinthisInternationalStandard,shallbe:water,thatmaycontainacorrosioninhibitor,keroseneorotherappropriateliquidhavingaviscositynotgreaterthanthatofwater,orairorothersuitablegas.Thetemperatureofthetestfluidshallbebetween5°Cand40°C.Pressuretestingvalveswithshellcomponentsofausteniticstainlesssteel,usingwaterasthetestfluid,requiresthatthechloridecontentofthewatershallnotexceed100106(100ppm).NOTEApurchasermayspecify,inavalveprocurementpurchaseorder,thatawettingagentbeaddedtowaterusedasatestfluid.ISO5208:2008(E)4.ISO2008–Allrightsreserved4.7TestpressureExceptforlow-pressureclosuretesting,testpressuresarerelatedtothevalveCWPwhichinturnisrelatedtotheshellmaterialofthevalveundertest.NOTEPipingsystemsinwhichvalvesareinstalledaresubjectedtopre-operationalpressuretesting.Therefore,valvestandards,byandlarge,includerequirementsforCWP-relatedmarkingtobeonanattachedvalveidentificationlabelorvalvebody.4.8Pressuretests4.8.1CompliancewiththisInternationalStandardforpressuretestingrequires:satisfactoryexecutionoftherequiredtestslistedinTable1,takingintoaccounttheexceptionsandclarificationsof4.8.3;satisfactoryexecutionoftheteststhatmayberequiredbythereferencingvalveproductstandard,whicharelistedasoptionalinTable1;pressuretestingisconductedfollowingwrittenprocedurespreparedbythevalvemanufacture,whichareinaccordancewiththisInternationalStandard.4.8.2IntheeventthatapurchaserspecifiesoptionaltestsasshowninTable1,theoptionaltestsshallbeperformedinadditiontoTable1requiredtests.4.8.3ThefollowingclarificationsandexceptionstoTable1areapplicable:forplugvalvesthatrelyonasealingcompoundtoeffectaclosureseal,ahigh-pressureclosuretestisrequiredandthelow-pressuretestisanoption;forvalveshavingbellowsstemsealing,abackseattestisnotrequired;forvalvesspecifiedasdoubleblockandbleed,ahigh-pressureclosuretestisrequiredandthelowpressuretestisanoption.4.8.4Forthepurposeofidentifyingrequiredtests,testdurationtimesandcalculatingclosureleakagerates,itisnecessarytoestablishtheequiva
