School Examinations to be postponed. (ii) After 6.15 a.m. when some students have already Classes to be suspended all day set out for school. School Examinations to be postponed. School premises will be open and staffed until proper arrangements are made for arriving students to return home at an appropriate time. (iii) When classes are in session Schools to continue until the end of normal school hours and conditions safe for students to return home Bad weather before students leave home and go to school When a tropical cyclone or heavy persistent rain is likely to affect Hong Kong, the Director of Education will make an announcement over the radio and television, advising parents whether or not to send their children to school. Whenever possible, the announcement will be made not later than 6.15 a.m. and repeated at regular and frequent intervals. Students should pay attention to the announcements before they leave home. Theexaminations on the day when school is closed will be postponed to a time to School Examinations: be shown outside the School Office. When school resumes,the normal examination time table will be followed. If school is closed on the last examination day, the examinations will be held on the next school day (school day means Monday to Friday). If school is closed on the day for students to collect reports, for registration, etc. students should Others: come back on the next working day. Bad weather after students leave home and on their way to school In the event that the Director of Education announces the closure of schools owing to rapidly deteriorating weather and the announcement is made after 6.15 a.m., that is after some pupils have set off for school, students on their way should decide whether to return home immediately or take shelter in the school. The school premises will be open and some teachers will be at school to look after those pupils who have reached school, and safe and adequate arrangements will be made for pupils to return home at appropriate time. This also applies to school examination days, the day for reports , etc. Bad weather when school is in session When the Director of Education makes a public announcement advising the immediate suspension of classes, the school may, considering the situation, keep the students in the school until it is safe for them to return home at an appropriate time. It may necessarily mean all pupils are to be sent home at once. not Public Examinations The closure of schools as a result of tropical cyclones or heavy persistent rain doesnecessarily imply not the postponement of a public examination scheduled to be held on that day.
