WRITING A NOTE
1 Dear Ariadne
I’m not sure if this note will reach you, but I really
wanted to write immediately. I’m waiting for you on the
island of Naxos. It’s a very small island – and there’s not
much to do here. I’m working as a priest in the temple
of Dionysus. The other priests are friendly. The journey
here was very long. I’m having a terrible time without
you. Please come soon.
With lots of love
Enarus
2 Dear Ariadne
I’m not sure if this note will reach you but I wanted
to tell you my news! I’m getting married next month
to Theseus in his capital Athens. It’s a very big city –
and there’s lots to do here. I’m really enjoying myself.
Theseus’s stepson Hippolytus is very nice. The journey
here was long and tiring. I’m writing to ask you to the
wedding. Please come if you can.
With lots of love
Phedra
