Should all junk food and drink ads be banned from children tv shows and internet games Should all junk food and drink ads be banned from children tv shows and internet games? My aunt hates advertisements, especially those for junk food and drink. My little nephew, her 5-year-old son, adores that kind of unhealthy food. And each time he sees the ads, he’ll ask his parents to buy some for him, which makes my aunt really vexed. She’s always telling me that she will do whatever she can to fight against those irresponsible advertisements, she really wants those ads to be banned. What a poor parent. But I don’t really think those advertisements should be banned. My teacher once complained to me that her daughter always wanted to go to KFC and she hardly knew why. I asked her if it was because of the advertisements. She said, “no, my daughter rarely watches tv or plays computer. I also wonder how she comes to know about KFC.” Well, my teacher’s story at least proves that even without the advertisements, children still want junk food. Try to imagine this: all the advertising companies stop making ads for junk food and drink; their incomes sharply reduce. Then because of the great loss, many employees will be at leisure. Maybe one day your brother who once had a job in an advertising company comes to you and tells you that his wedding ceremony has been canceled because his girl friend broke up with him for his out of employment. Ok, I guess what I’m trying to say is that advertising companies and the tv stations have their own benefit, and we cannot solve the children’s problem by simply banning the ads. Not all the advertisements are bad. I myself enjoy some advertisements very much. Those ads are made attentively and diligently, which I consider to be good for children. Faced with the reality of the difficulty to solve the problem, I’ll not be so foolish as to suggest a solution to it. I just say, for the reasons above, I don’t think it is reasonable to ban the junk food and drink advertisements.
