My Greatest Achievement
My greatest achievement after I entering the collage is learning how to love. It’s a learning which comes slowly to me and has been worked in the fires of pain and in the waters of patience.
When I was young I was a little self-centered and particular about choosing friends which I didn’t notice. The people who could be my friend must be in perfect personality and must have only one best friend, me. Otherwise, I will be sad and mad, even break with her. It happened in my primary school.
As time goes on, I grow up but I don’t notice my vice in my personality until I meet a girl who does unduly in a familiar situation. The girl, M, has a good friend, K, who is also my friend. When K and I spend long time being together and studying together in our own English learning group which organized by me, M becomes angry to me and even does something mean to me, which is deeply offensive. Moreover, she tries to stir up trouble between K and I and tries to control K. Her behavior and possessiveness scare K and they nearly break up. I know M really likes K but she acts it in the selfish and wrong way. This leads to my introspection. From that I am learning that I must free the one I love, for if I clutch or cling, try to control, I lose what I try to hold. I limit and prevent her development by my act of possession, no matter how kind my intention is.
As I learn and practice more and more, I can say to the one I love, “I love you, I value you, I respect you and I trust you. I love you so much that I can set you free to walk beside me in joy and in sadness. Sometimes I will be angry and when I am, I will try to tell you openly so that I need not hate our differences or feel estranged.”
I am learning to say this, whether it is in words or in my way of being with others and myself, to those I love and for whom I care. I cannot always do the right, but I am getting better at it!
